🏫 Who we are

Hebrew From Zero is a one-on-one Hebrew tutoring service operated by Danny Gossels. Our student portal is available at app.learnhebrewfromzero.com and our marketing site at learnhebrewfromzero.com.

📋 What data we collect

When you create a student account or use the portal, we may collect:

• Your name and email address
• Your timezone (to schedule lessons correctly)
• Lesson history and booking records
• Notes and homework your teacher writes during lessons
• Payment records (lesson credit balance)

If you connect your Google Calendar (optional), we additionally access your Google Calendar data as described below.

📅 Google Calendar data

The portal offers an optional Google Calendar integration. If you choose to connect your Google account, we request the following permissions:

• View your calendars (calendar.readonly) — so you can select which calendar to use for lesson events
• Manage your calendar events (calendar.events) — to create lesson events in your calendar when a lesson is booked, and to remove them when a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled

We use this access only to create, update, and delete lesson events on your behalf. We do not read, store, or share any other events from your calendar. We never sell or transfer your Google data to third parties.

You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from your account settings. Disconnecting revokes our access immediately.

Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

🔒 How we protect your data

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a hosted PostgreSQL platform with row-level security). Access tokens for Google Calendar are stored encrypted server-side and are never exposed to the browser or third parties.

We use Cloudflare Workers as a secure intermediary for all Google Calendar API calls — your credentials never pass through the client application directly.

🤝 How we use your data

We use your data solely to:

• Schedule, manage, and track your Hebrew lessons
• Send lesson reminders by email (24 hours before each lesson)
• Create and manage Google Calendar events for your lessons (if you connect Google Calendar)
• Maintain your lesson history and homework notes

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to your tutoring sessions.

🌍 Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

• Supabase — our database provider (stores your account and lesson data)
• Google — only when you have explicitly connected your Google Calendar
• Resend — our email provider, used only to send lesson reminder emails to your address

✅ Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Disconnect Google Calendar access at any time from your account settings

🍪 Cookies

The portal uses cookies only for authentication (to keep you logged in). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The marketing site does not set any cookies.
